RYA Guidance – Inclusive Language

The following guidance provides steps that employees, organisations, members, and participants who are associated with the RYA can take in order to show respect to individual identities. Inclusive Language Guidance has been highly requested by numerous stake holders of the RYA. Having expressed that they face challenges with the language that is used to describe the roles that they play within sailing, boating and water sports, this guidance ultimately shares the importance of valuing everybody’s identities in the language that we use. Language plays a huge part in the ways in which we are all included, recognised and feel belonging in a community.
